Red Pole Barn — Ground-Up Build

May 2026 · 15 photos

Framing, red wall metal, gray wainscot, finished garage with man door.

This barn started as a bare post frame on a wooded lot. We set and braced the posts, ran the girts around the walls, and set a window right into the framing. The dark metal roof was already on overhead when the wall work began.

In mid-May we started hanging the red wall metal, working panel by panel off ladders. Gray wainscot went along the bottom of every wall. By the end of May the gable ends and the long walls were closed in, and the window sat cleanly in the red metal.

The front was left open with two wide bays. We trimmed the corners and the bay openings in gray and hung a white man door next to a small window. The finished building sits at the end of a gravel drive.
